Library School Programs Sponsored by West

Westlaw Access for Students and Faculty

Practicing law librarians from around the country have told us that Westlaw research skills are indispensable for legal careers in many environments.

For this reason, the West Librarian Relations group provides free Westlaw passwords for individual students and instructors for use in graduate-level courses. (A special no-cost subscriber agreement is required.)

Librarian Relations also provides free Westlaw research guides to introduce students to basic legal research materials and methods. Instructional materials for research in specific Westlaw topic areas are also available.

Westlaw Training for Students and Faculty

Special training options are available to enhance your school's legal research instruction. West-sponsored training programs teach faculty and students how to conduct research more quickly and accurately, and introduce new Westlaw databases and features that can expand research options and save time.

Classroom training may be available on your campus or via distance technology. Free online training is also available, along with one-on-one telephone training for faculty members.

Association Partner Programs

West augments its library-school support programs by working with library schools and law librarian adjunct instructors to offer MLS students specialized training in legal research and online skills.

We also support annual informal meetings of the Conference of Law Library Educators (COLLE), which take place during the AALL Annual Meeting.

West works with Special Libraries Association (SLA) chapters and recommends local librarians for speaking engagements with students on career days and related events.
