Chief Judge Gerald E. Rosen
Chief Judge Rosen was appointed a United States judge for the Eastern District of Michigan in March 1990 and became chief judge in January 2009. Prior to taking the bench, he was a senior partner in Miller, Canfield, Paddock & Stone. Earlier, he was a legislative assistant to former U.S. Sen. Robert P. Griffin of Michigan. Judge Rosen is a graduate of George Washington University Law School. He has written numerous articles on litigation topics and is co-author of several books. He has served on the U.S. Judicial Conference Criminal Law Committee and other public boards and commissions. Judge Rosen has lectured to attorneys and judges nationwide on civil procedure and evidence topics and is an adjunct professor at Wayne State University Law School, the University of Michigan Law School, and Thomas M. Cooley Law School.
