Steinberg, a professor of law at SMU, teaches corporate and securities law. Before joining the SMU faculty, Steinberg was professor of law at the University of Maryland School of Law; visiting professor at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania; visiting associate professor at the National Law Center; George Washington University; and adjunct professor at Georgetown University Law Center. Following law school, Professor Steinberg served as law clerk to Judge Stanley N. Barnes of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and as legislative counsel to U.S. Senator Robert P. Griffin. He subsequently served as special projects counsel and confidential legal adviser to the general counsel at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
Professor Steinberg is the author of more than 100 law review articles as well as ten books. He is editor-in-chief of the Securities Regulation Law Journal, serves on the advisory boards of three other journals in the corporate and securities law area and of The International Lawyer, and is a member of the American Law Institute. In addition, he has lectured and consulted on company law in Australia, England, Finland, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, New Zealand, South Africa, Sweden, and Taiwan. He also holds the title of Visiting Professorial Fellow in International Securities Regulation for the Center for Commercial Law Studies at the University of London.
