Solkoff has been in private practice of law since 1965, concentrating in the field of elder law since 1982. He currently practices in Deerfield Beach, Florida. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University in 1961, and his Juris Doctor degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Law in 1964.
Mr. Solkoff is an inaugural member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) and is certified as an Elder Law Specialist by both the National Elder Law Foundation and The Florida Bar. He co-founded the Elder Law Section of The Florida Bar and served as its President from 1992 until 1993, and has served on its Board of Directors and committees. He is also a member of the Real Property, Probate, and Trust Law Sections of The Florida Bar and American Bar Association and some of their respective committees.
Mr. Solkoff served as Chairperson of the Elder Law Certification Committee of The Florida Bar and the Elder Law Section's representative on the Bar's Committee on Sections. He is past president of Broward Homebound Program, Inc., past executive board member of the Alzheimer's Association of Southeast Florida Chapter, Inc., and the Center for Group Counseling, and is past president of the Florida Alzheimer's Public Policy Steering Council. He is also a founding member of the Florida Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. In 2003 the Broward County Legal Aid Society named him Advocate of the Year.
His writings, interviews and citations have appeared in legal publications and news media across the country and he frequently lectures on elder law and care issues across Florida and nationally.
