Tomi P. Asanti
Asanti is the head of the Moscow representative office of Sponda Plc, a leading property investment company specializing in owning, developing, and leasing commercial properties in Russia and Finland. Prior to joining Sponda, Asanti held several legal positions at KONE Corporation, one of the world's largest elevator and escalator companies. From 2005 to 2008, he was responsible for legal support of KONE's business operations in the CIS countries, with a focus on the Russian Federation. Prior to joining KONE in 2004, Asanti worked as an associate lawyer at White & Case LLP and Holland & Knight LLP in Helsinki, Finland, and New York, and focused his practice on representing issuers, selling shareholders and underwriters in connection with a broad range of capital markets transactions, including listings of securities on U.S. and international stock exchanges. He also advised clients on cross-border mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, banking transactions, and private placements of securities to international venture capital investors. Asanti gained extensive public international law experience while working at the United Nations headquarters and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland in Helsinki, Finland, and New York.

Asanti received his LL.M degree from Columbia Law School, New York, in 2004 and his J.D. equivalent degree from the School of Law, University of Turku, Finland, in 1999. He also completed extensive law and international business studies at the University of Louisville, Louis D. Brandeis School of Law, Kentucky; the University of Fribourg, School of Law, Switzerland; and the University of Stockholm, School of Law, Sweden.

Asanti serves as secretary of the Columbia University Club of Finland and speaks English, Russian, Finnish, Swedish, French, and German.
