Robert D. Chesler is chair of the Lowenstein Sandler Insurance Practice Group. Since 1982, he has represented policyholders in a broad variety of coverage claims against their insurers, and advises companies with respect to their insurance programs. Originally, Mr. Chesler's practice concentrated on general liability insurance, and in particular, environmental and toxic tort insurance claims. Presently, Mr. Chesler's practice has gravitated to cyber insurance. He also works extensively in D&O insurance, and is interested in issues involving global warming and insurance coverage. Mr. Chesler is a frequent author and speaker on insurance topics. He chaired a seminar at the 2008 ABA section meeting on the new cyber-policies, and chaired this past summer a similar program for the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education. Mr. Chesler is listed among The Best Lawyers in America in the environmental law section and was featured in the 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008 editions of New Jersey Super Lawyers in the area of insurance coverage. He is also listed in the 2006, 2007 and 2008 Chambers USA Guide to America's Leading Lawyers for Business. Mr. Chesler received his A.B. with highest honors from Rutgers, The State University in 1973, his Ph.D. from Princeton University in 1979, and his J.D. with honors from Harvard Law School in 1982.
