Edward J. Krauland is a Partner in the Washington, DC office of Steptoe & Johnson LLP. He heads the Firm's International Regulations and Compliance practice group. Mr. Krauland's experience in the area includes representing clients on matters involving dual use and defense export controls, U.S. and multilateral
economic sanctions, payment abroad of commissions and other marketing funds,
anti-money laundering compliance, DSAA and State Department certifications, and anti-boycott and FCPA enforcement. His practice spans all aspects of these laws, including counseling, compliance and transactional advice, licensing and opinion
work, internal reviews, and enforcement actions. He has extensive experience dealing with the principal U.S. agencies, including the Commerce Department, State Department, Treasury Department, Defense Security Service, and Justice
Department. He has served as co-chair of the International Trade Committee of the ABA Section of International Law and Practice. He is currently the Chairman of an ABA-wide Task Force on Gatekeeper Regulation and co-chair of the ABA Section of International Law and Practice's Task Force on money laundering and professional
responsibility.
