Androphy is a partner with Berg & Androphy in Houston, Texas. Certified in criminal law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, he has represented many high-profile defendants, including acting as co-counsel for Susan McDougal in the appeal of her Whitewater conviction. Mr. Androphy has been successful in preventing indictments or obtaining dismissal of charges in the following types of cases: criminal RICO, securities fraud, mail and wire fraud, health care fraud, antitrust violations, perjury, environmental crimes, public corruption, and governmental procurement. In addition he has won reversal and acquittals on appeal in bank fraud, mail fraud and money laundering, and counterfeit trafficking cases. Androphys practice also includes civil matters, including banking, health care, insurance fraud, environmental violations, antitrust, breach of contract, conspiracy, and personal injury.
Mr. Androphy was formerly a member of the board of Directors of the State Bar of Texas, and an appointed member of the Texas Commission for Lawyer Discipline. Even before joining the commission, he was very active in bar leadership. He was formerly President of the Houston Chapter of the Federal Bar Association, an officer and director of the Houston Bar Association, and editor of the Texas Bar Journal and the Houston Lawyer magazine.
Androphy has served on three U.S. District Court Merit Selection Committees for U.S. Magistrates, and a Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals Merit Selection Committee for the Public Defender. He is the legal commentator for ABC - Houston and a frequent commentator for MSNBC & Bloomberg. Mr. Androphy has received two president's awards for his service to the Houston Bar Association as editor of the Houston Lawyer, and as chairman of the Houston Volunteer Lawyers Program.
