R. Carl Moy
Moy is a Full Professor at the William Mitchell College of Law, in Saint Paul Minnesota, where he has taught various classes in intellectual property law, including patent law, since 1989 and is a registered patent attorney.

A frequent speaker on topics of patent law, he is both a former practicing attorney in the field and a former Patent Examiner with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He has served as a Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable Daniel M. Friedman of the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and has studied at the Max Planck Institute for International and Comparative Patent, Copyright, and Competition Law in Germany. He holds a Juris Doctor from the National Law Center of the George Washington University in Washington, D.C., and has a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Minnesota.

Professor Moy is Special Counsel to the law firm of Faegre & Benson, LLP, and is active in the Section of Intellectual Property Law of the American Bar Association, where he has held various Committee Chairmanships and is a former member of the Section’s Council.
