Keefe A. Brooks
A shareholder practicing in Butzel Long's Detroit office and serves on the firm's Board of Directors. He is a graduate of The University of Michigan (B.A., with high distinction, 1977; J.D., magna cum laude, 1980).


Mr. Brooks has extensive experience in federal and state courts, including the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, the Michigan Court of Appeals, the United States District Court for the Eastern and Western Districts of Michigan, and the Oakland, Wayne and Macomb County Circuit Courts for the State of Michigan.


Mr. Brooks concentrates his practice in general business and commercial litigation and professional responsibility matters. His experience includes: commercial contract matters, director and officer liability matters, business tort litigation, insurance coverage disputes, securities litigation, legal malpractice, medical malpractice defense and financial institution matters.


Mr. Brooks has served on various state bar committees including the State Bar Committee on Professional and Judicial Ethics (chair from 1996 to 1998) and the Committee on Public Interest Law. He is a member of the Association of Defense Trial Counsel and is listed in Best Lawyers in America.


Mr. Brooks served six years as a Master of the Bench with the University of Detroit Chapter of American Inns of Court, and three years as an adjunct professor at the University of Detroit School of Law. He is also a Fellow of the Michigan State Bar Foundation, and an active member of the Oakland County Bar Association, the Detroit Bar Association and the National Association of Professional Responsibility Lawyers.
