Jeremiah Long, highly regarded real estate practitioner and president of 1031 Services, Inc., died March 7, 2007. Long practiced law for more than 40 years and was involved nationally in all facets of tax-deferred exchanges since 1974. During his career, he advised taxpayers, exchangors, accommodating parties, third parties, trustees, facilitators, and closing agents.
Long acted as intermediary in thousands of exchanges involving properties nationally and internationally. He adeptly structured tax-deferred exchanges involving complicated and unusual transactions and combinations of transactions.
Longs work also included international real estate transactions. After serving in the Judge Advocate General Corps, U.S. Army, and as an assistant United States attorney for the Western District of Washington in charge of the Land Division, he entered private practice in the real estate field. Long wrote extensively on real estate matters.
