Lewis Bass
Bass is a registered professional safety engineer. He applies his practical engineering expertise to the analysis of the liability associated with human errors, products, medical devices, facilities and the environment. He holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, an M.S. degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering, and a J.D. degree. Mr. Bass has taught Safety Science for the University of Southern California Institute of Safety and Systems Management, teaching courses in Process Safety Management System Safety Engineering Techniques, Safety Management, Failure Analysis, and Safety Law. He currently teaches hazard analysis and liability prevention for the University of Wisconsin - Madison and the University of California at Los Angeles.

Mr. Bass has been an expert witness in a wide variety of cases involving slip and falls, construction machinery and workplace safety, warnings, product safety, sport safety, equipment safety, and human factors. He has testified regarding risk assessment and the feasibility of alternative design and procedures to reduce accidents and injuries.

Bass is an active member of safety standards development activities. He is task group leader for the mechanical section of the revised Guidelines for Semiconductor Equipment Safety (SEMI S-2). He was a co-author of Ergonomic Guidelines for Semiconductor Process Equipment (SEMI S-8).

Bass has published numerous papers, and is a frequent speaker on safety law and product liability at professional seminars and conferences. He is a member of the American Society for Quality, American Society of Safety Engineers, National Fire Protection Association, Semiconductor Safety Association, and the American Bar Association.
