This annotation collects all federal court cases, in which the government is not a civil party or intervenor, discussing under what circumstances a civil case, or civil discovery, should be stayed where an arguably parallel criminal case, or investigation, is pending. Federal cases addressing whether a stay should issue during the pendency of a related criminal action where the government is a civil party or intervenor to the action are beyond the scope of this annotation, as are federal forfeiture cases.
