Your Name Here: A Novel Idea to Name a Character in Next John Grisham Book
West launches "Name Your Character" contest to support the Innocence Project of Minnesota
EAGAN, Minn., Feb. 9, 2009 – The characters in the legal thrillers of best selling writer John Grisham are memorable: Mitch McDeere (The Firm), Carl Lee Hailey (A Time to Kill), Reggie Love (The Client) and Darby Shaw (The Pelican Brief). Grisham gave fictional life to those names, whether they were based on people he knew or imagined.
While the title of Grisham's next book remains under wraps, a contest from West will determine the name of one of his newest characters. It is open to corporate legal and compliance professionals at United States corporations.
Eligible entrants just need to go to
NameYourCharacter.com to register, today through April 30, 2009, and watch a short video clip of a movie scene modeled in Grisham's style. The winning entrant's name will be drawn at random and the winner can either enter his or her name for the character or a fictional name they create. That name will appear in the next Grisham novel, scheduled for release in 2010.
For every eligible entry received, West will make a donation to the Innocence Project of Minnesota, whose mission is to keep innocent people from being convicted, and to free people imprisoned for crimes they didn't commit.
