Chip Cater is responsible for leading the strategy, strategic marketing and business development teams at Thomson Reuters Legal, and has responsibility for West sales and account management. Previously he was chief strategy officer of North American Legal. Since joining Thomson in 1987, he has held a variety of senior-level positions within West and the legal businesses in North America, including serving as executive vice president and chief marketing officer for West from 2001 to 2007, and senior vice president of Sales & Account Management from 1997 to 2001.

In addition to having completed a number of graduate programs, Chip holds a bachelor's degree from Hamilton College.
